Veterinary guidance and feeding considerations from The Meat Legacy.

Can I feed The Meat Legacy products to a pet with a medical condition?

Pets with medical conditions may have specific nutritional and dietary requirements, so not every meat, organ, bone or fish product will be suitable for every pet. If your dog or cat has a diagnosed medical condition, is receiving treatment or is on a prescription diet, we recommend consulting your veterinarian before introducing or changing any food.

The Meat Legacy can help you select products that align with the feeding instructions provided by your veterinarian, subject to product availability.

Can I follow my veterinarian’s feeding plan with The Meat Legacy products?

Yes. If your veterinarian has recommended specific proteins, cuts, organs, quantities or feeding portions for your dog or cat, you can use their feeding plan when selecting suitable products from The Meat Legacy.

Where possible, we can help prepare and portion your order according to your veterinarian’s instructions. Your veterinarian’s recommendations should always take priority when your pet has specific nutritional or medical requirements.

Does The Meat Legacy provide customized feeding recommendations?

The Meat Legacy provides general feeding and nutritional information, but we do not diagnose medical conditions or prescribe individualized veterinary diets.

Every pet’s nutritional requirements can differ according to species, age, weight, activity level, body condition, reproductive status and health. For a personalized feeding plan, portion recommendation or therapeutic diet, we recommend consulting your veterinarian or a qualified veterinary nutrition professional.

If your veterinarian provides a specific feeding plan, The Meat Legacy can work with you to prepare suitable products and portions according to those instructions, where available.

Should I consult my veterinarian before starting my pet on raw food?

Yes. If you are considering introducing raw food to your dog or cat, discussing the change with your veterinarian can help determine whether it is appropriate for your pet’s age, health, nutritional requirements and current diet. Veterinary guidance is particularly important for puppies, kittens, senior pets, pregnant or nursing animals and pets with medical conditions.

Can my veterinarian recommend a specific portion size for my pet?

Yes. A veterinarian or qualified veterinary nutrition professional can recommend feeding quantities based on factors such as your pet’s species, age, weight, body condition, activity level, health and overall diet.

The feeding information provided by The Meat Legacy is general guidance and should not override an individualized veterinary feeding recommendation.

Can The Meat Legacy formulate a therapeutic or prescription diet?

The Meat Legacy does not diagnose medical conditions or independently prescribe therapeutic veterinary diets.

If your pet requires a therapeutic, prescription or medically formulated diet, follow your veterinarian’s instructions. Where appropriate, we can help identify or prepare products from our range that correspond with the ingredients and portions specified by your veterinarian.

What should I do if my pet reacts badly to a new food?

Stop feeding the new product and contact your veterinarian if your pet develops persistent vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, unusual behavior or other concerning symptoms after a dietary change.

For severe or rapidly developing symptoms, seek veterinary attention promptly.
